Heritage Tour and Tales of Heroism in the Gaza Envelope

On the seventh morning of October, Hamas breached into Israel followed by infiltrators and insurgents. Civilians and soldiers participated in battles to defend the communities surrounding the Gaza Strip. Civilians mobilized to protect the border communities while the army was deployed to thwart the infiltration. During the tour, we will visit a settlement on the outskirts of the area and delve into how Hamas breached and what ensued. We may not have answers to all questions, but we can provide reliable information about the incident. Were there cameras on the border fence? What was the role of the IDF surveillance system? What happened to the Israeli officer? When was the military deployed, and more. From a safe distance, we'll observe Gaza itself. We'll remember those who lost their lives on that seventh of October and hold a memorial ceremony in their honor. We'll also recall and raise awareness about the captives still held, waiting for their return

We will depart by bus from the Central District between 7:30-8:00 from the collection points. We will begin our journey towards Netiv HaAsara (if granted permission to enter) while hearing the stories surrounding our fallen heroes
We will travel to the city of Sderot to a lookout point over Gaza. We will learn about the neighborhoods in Gaza, the breach of the border, and Hamas's entry into the Sderot area in general. We will see the neighborhoods within Gaza that we've heard about in the news. We will learn about the points of breach by Hamas from Kerem Shalom to the Erez checkpoint. Continuing to the police station in Sderot, we will meet with the heroic officers who fought for the station. We will learn about the battle that took place at the police station. We will stop at a small center in the city to support a local bakery and enjoy a coffee break

We will continue to Tkuma, where the car wreck and the burnt-out vehicles are located today. We'll observe the site and witness the extent of the disaster that occurred on the roads and in the Noveh parking lot. We'll also see two Hamas incendiary balloons on the site. We'll discuss the dilemma of commemoration

We will stop at the shelter where Enar Shpira, a reconnaissance soldier in the IDF, blocked seven grenades. The eighth grenade exploded in his hand, tragically claiming his life, but not before he saved the lives of eight people who had fled from the attack during the Noveh Festival

We will hold a memorial ceremony for Shtay Gatza. Shtay was murdered while rushing from a party to reach her two children in Ashkelon, who were with her parents. Unfortunately, Shtay did not make it to them. Shtay was full of life and joy. Her testament was to celebrate life
